Alan's interest in fine furniture started at an unusually early age. As the grandson of Edward G. Rudman (1897-1990), founder of the Old Colony Furniture Co. (1925-1964), Alan grew up literally surrounded by his grandfather's fine reproduction furniture: his parents' house, his grandparents' house and the houses of many of his parents' and grandparents' friends were all furnished by Old Colony.
Alan began collecting Old Colony on his own in 1987 and since 2000 has been selling fine "custom mahogany" made by Old Colony and a handful of other worthy makers who upheld similarly high standards.
